The Staycation is here to stay – so stay at The Plassey
The Great British Staycation is fast becoming the holiday of choice – and after a recent stay at The Plassey, it’s easy to see why.
With the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic throwing foreign travel into a spin, North Wales is expected to be amongst the most popular holiday regions once again this year.
So, if you’re planning to leave your passport at home and instead explore the delights of North Wales, then a stay at The Plassey Holiday Park could be just what you’re looking for.
Whether you’re a couple longing for a romantic weekend away, a thrill-seeking family in search of adventure, or a group of friends simply looking to relax and unwind, this five-star, award-winning holiday park ticks all the boxes.

The Plassey is nestled in 250 acres of stunning park and woodland in Eyton, Bangor-on-Dee, which is situated in the heart of the picturesque Dee Valley – one of only five Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs) in Wales and boasting a rich cultural and industrial heritage. The holiday park itself is a former Edwardian Dairy Farm that has been carefully and lovingly converted and restored over the years.
We stayed in one of the Luxury Studio Lodges, and with only 10 on-site, they offer the ultimate exclusive holiday experience. Each bespoke, cedar-clad lodge has its own private hot tub, has been tastefully and thoughtfully designed, and comes fully equipped providing everything you’ll need for your stay.
Visiting with our two young daughters (aged two and five), we found the whole experience to be incredibly family-friendly. The staff are extremely accommodating and nothing is too much trouble. Having arrived in the dark, they escorted us to the Lodge and ensured we had everything we needed to hand. The level of customer service is first class.

While you could quite easily while away the hours lounging in the luxuries of the lodge, there’s a whole realm of activities and amenities on offer within the holiday park itself.
For those who love the great outdoors, there’s fishing ponds, nature trails and acres of stunning woodland and farmland to explore. Our girls loved the nature trail and hunting for the signs along the way, which explain the different types of animals and habitats that are around. Though it was longer than we anticipated – so be wary of little legs! We carried our girls halfway round – so the dip in the hot tub when we got back was well earned!
Golfers can get into their swing with the nine-hole golf course, pitch and putt and driving range, and there’s also an indoor heated swimming pool, providing fun for the whole family, whatever the weather.

For younger visitors, there’s a games room and a fantastic Welsh castle-themed adventure playground, which was a firm favourite with my two children.
If retail therapy is more your thing, then you’ll love the shopping village situated in the converted farm buildings, which are home to more than 20 independent retail and craft outlets.
And of course, you won’t want to miss the newly-opened Blk Sheep Baa and Grill for the ultimate dining experience. This family-friendly restaurant is situated in the old Dairy, which has been cleverly converted to combine some of the original features, such as the old troughs, creating a truly unique design aesthetic.
There’s an extensive and mouth-watering menu, and with an emphasis on high-quality, home-grown produce, you won’t be disappointed.

While there’s plenty to keep you busy within the park itself, The Plassey is perfectly located with a plethora of nearby attractions on its doorstep.
You can explore the 11 miles of canals and countryside at the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site, take in a tour of the Roman town of Chester, step back in time at the National Trust-owned Erddig country home and gardens or head over to Llangollen for a memorable ride on the old steam train.
Whatever time of year you’re planning to visit, the Plassey provides the perfect combination of luxury accommodation and first-class facilities in an idyllic location.
If the Staycation is here to stay – then stay at The Plassey.
