Enjoy Plassey Golf Course

Over nine holes and 4961 yards, the par 66 Plassey Golf Course is set in beautiful undulating parkland, and was established in 1992. The course has been designed by Keith Williams, coach to the world famous welsh golfer Ian Woosnam, and it is affiliated to both the Denbighshire and Welsh Golfing Unions.

Set in mature parkland, the course is surrounded by specimen trees, ponds and streams. The topography is ideal for an attractive golf course, with valleys at the west, which merge into one valley at the east.

Since 2012 the course has undergone major improvement work. Working with a leading golf course architect, the course has recently been upgraded to include new two-bay practice nets, (conveniently located near to the clubhouse) a new 5th green, re-designed 3rd and 6th holes and re-shaped lakes.

The result is an extremely playable and well thought out course that both the beginner and skilled golfer can enjoy. Full course detail hole-by-hole:

Hole One:
Par 4, 349 yards/340 yards

The opening hole requires an accurate drive, threaded between mature trees on either side of the fairway. There are two approach bunkers, one 30-40 yards from the green which better players should easily avoid, and another protecting the green on its left edge.

Hole Two:
Par 4, 283 yards/275 yards

A slightly right to left dog leg with a green that can be reached from the tee in favourable conditions. The green is relatively flat and protected by two bunkers either side which sit some way from the edge.

Hole Three:
Par 3, 175 yards/166 yards

A challenging hole set alongside a steep sided valley. The green is positioned between an out-of-bounds to the left and pond and mature trees to the right, with further protection in the form of two bunkers.

Hole Four:
Par 4, 301 yards/274 yards
A left to right dog leg with a tee shot played over a dramatic valley and a long, nearly driveable green flanked by mature oak trees. The fairway has trees on either side yet longer hitters aim straight for the green in an attempt to reach it from the tee.

Hole Five:
Par 4, 294 yards/262 yards
Another short par 4 played over a valley, the fairway leads to a new green re-developed in August 2012 that is protected by a pond and trees of its right hand edge.

Hole Six:
Par 3, 165 yards
Par 4, 157 yards

This hole is a par 3 when played as the 6th and a par 4 when played as the 15th. The green has mature trees to its left and a narrow stream to its right. When played as a par 3 the tee is positioned next to a large pond which has to be carried when played as a par 4.

Hole Seven:
Par 4, 271 yards
Par 3, 259 yards

Similar to the 6th, the 7th plays as a short par 4 on the front nine a and a par 3 on the back nine. The hole, certainly trickier as a par 3 than a par 4, runs down a narrow valley populated by open ditches and piped drainage leading towards a green protected by a stream to the front and right.

Hole Eight:
Par 3, 164 yards/155 yards

A very challenging hole, the uphill approach to the green is out of sight from the tee. The green itself is unprotected with a steep run-off to the right hand side.

Hole Nine:
Par 4, 373 yards/364 yards

The round is completed by the second longest par 4 of the course featuring a long drive aimed between trees either side of the fairway. The green makes for a delightful finish with its close proximity to the lake and trees to the left hand side.
